Meet Jen Rivers, ASW

She/Her/Hers/We/Us/Ours

At one point in my life, I found myself stuck. I was stuck in a box. For me, this box was placed upon me by my own shame, guilt, anxiety, depression, unworthiness, emotional neglect, childhood trauma, learned behavior from family of origin, and questions regarding sexuality and gender identity, (including "womanhood" and the expectations of being a "woman").

If you are like me, you’ve tried to fit into that same box. You’ve tried to bend and mold yourself to fit. You began growing outside the box only to be told that it’s not ok, so you duct tape it back up and shrink yourself to fit.

The great news is that you can grow beyond the confines of this box placed upon you! And that’s where I can help you!

What You Can Expect

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

As a queer person myself, I know what it's like to struggle with my own identity. I understand that there are therapists who have invalidated your experiences. I have had that experience too. You deserve a therapist that hears you, sees you, and understands you.

Perimenopause and Menopause Therapy for Queer Folks
and Women

If you are assigned female at birth or have an ovarian system, no matter how you identify yourself, you will go through the perimenopause transition. This transition can bring up a lot of physical and emotional symptoms that can feel jarring, scary, and confusing. Additionally, it can bring an increase in gender dysphoria. It can also feel quite isolating. I'm here to help support you through the process.

Trauma Therapy

We tend to believe that trauma is this one big event, but even something that may seem "insignificant" can have an impact on our lives. I, myself, believed this for a long time! Healing from trauma happens in community, and that community can be the therapeutic relationship.

Group Therapy

If you are a person who has experienced isolation and neglect in childhood, groups can provide a new experience of connection, which can be very healing. Click here for more information about groups I am running currently.

Gender-Affirming Letters

I am happy to consult, assess, and write letters for medical providers so you can access gender-affirming hormones and/or gender-affirming surgical procedures.

Please note, I do not charge for the virtual assessment or letter.
